The 7 Regions
Canada's terrain consists of multiple landform regions:
Appalachian Mountains
St. Lawrence Lowlands
Canadian Shield
Interior Plains
Cordillera
Arctic Lands
Hudson Bay Lowlands

AppalachiansThe appalachian region is a combination of ancient deeply cut
valleys and highlands stretching across the southeast coast, starting in northern Alabama reaching to Newfoundland and Labrador, though we will be focusing on the Canadian region and impacts. (Newfoundland/Labrador, PEI, New Brunswick, Quebec, and Nova Scotia) The appalachian mountains were formed by a movement of tectonic plates causing earth to rise above surface level, fold and eventually erode to become rolling hills and rhythmic valleys. The valleys are known for their fertile farmlands, and great rivers and falls. Mountains for their dense forestry and mines. |

Over-FishingThe Appalachian region is on the east coast giving many opportunities to fish, but recent statistics show the eastern Cod population has depleted greatly from collapse 20 years ago, even though they have recovered greatly since then they are still at risk
|
Over-Mining Appalachian mountains are filled with many valuable rock types and are often mined, however it's destroying the land and different habitats (deforestation).
Years ago, an extraction demolished a cemetery from over 3 generations ago (200 years) |
TransportationThough valleys are helpful for travel it can also take a longer to reach your destination, as well as the powerful rivers running throughout the valleys suggest danger.

Adaptations
The regions may share some similarities but each has its differences, in which people living in the appalachians
- Climate~ the climate throughout the appalachian region varies, but in canada typically the chilly arctic winds takeover the north and more temperate/ humid the farther south you go (USA), so moving from say Ontario to Northern Appalachian you'd definitely need a coat
- Plants and Animals~Mountains and forestry open up a whole new selection of animals and vegetation compared to what we have here in the more southern canadian shield, dangerous bears, and different plants that aren't local here.
- Diet~ The fertile valleys allow great farmland and being on the east coast with lots of forestry means less factories for processed food (imported, not fresh) and more fresh caught or hunted foods you would have to eat to survive.
